2025 is poised to be another colossal year for travel and tourism and many of those trips will include travel professionals such as advisors and suppliers and traversing the globe to meet and share ideas and insights.

Visiting Disney World was an annual experience of my youth. For decades, my family would spend a long October weekend at the Fort Wilderness camping resort. We'd run around the parks and skip through the numerous resorts and restaurants sprinkled throughout the Lake Buena Vista campus.

Set high in the French Alps just minutes from the Swiss border, Lake Annecy is a prime destination in both summer and winter for European vacationers—but it's often overlooked (or simply unknown) by many Americans in favor of nearby ski (and après) meccas Chamonix, Grenoble, or Geneva. The lake's northern shore includes the city of Annecy, a bustling mini-metropolis full of high-end boutiques and dining, museums, and attractions—and through its medieval Old Town runs a series of mountain-water-fed canals, which are home to flocks of stunning white swans and lend the city its reputation as the Venice of France.

Denali National Park is one of those landscapes you must see in person to properly appreciate. The continent’s highest peak rises above the Alaskan Range at a staggering 20,310 feet, and the park’s expanse, three times the size of Yellowstone, offers an unparalleled wilderness experience. Its untamed beauty, with the absence of manicured parking lots and boardwalks, allows you to immerse yourself in nature’s grandeur. A visit will surely gift you excellent wildlife viewing (big and small), with opportunities to see bears, moose, and wolves, and hiking through the park’s diverse landscapes, from the subalpine forests to the alpine tundra, promises an unforgettable adventure. When visiting, you’ll want to stay in the park in one of the five lodges, backcountry camp, or in a nearby Airbnb. With limited options within the park boundaries, there’s a nice selection of Airbnb properties suitable for couples and families or larger groups in nearby towns and communities. Many of these are located between Talkeetna and Trapper Creek, so there’s still a one to three hour drive involved. But those routes are beautiful and these homes make a great base for exploring the region at large. I was sailing around Lake Como on the penultimate day of a family trip when my mind started to wander from the lakeside mansions and crisp autumn breeze to the dread of returning home. As one of the most populous cities in the US, Chicago has some pretty terrible traffic. However, I have to brave it several times a year when traveling between Wisconsin and Michigan for work and family events.

The holiday season is nearly upon us, which means it's time to book those flights to see your parents, in-laws, siblings, family, friends, or even that solo getaway you so desperately need at the end of the year. But before you do, make sure to consider all your flight options because some airports are simply better than others for holiday travelers.  To help you find the right ones, MarketWatch conducted a survey of 3,000 Americans to learn more about their holiday travel habits. The team found that 61 percent of respondents plan to travel this holiday season, 36 percent intend to fly for the holidays, and they expect to pay an average of $1,869 on holiday air travel.

A getaway to warmer weather just got easier and cheaper.Avelo Airlines recently announced four new routes from the Orlando, FL area, and is celebrating with $46 fares. With the expansion of new routes, Avelo will be opening a new crew base at Lakeland International Airport, which is one hour and 15 minutes south of Orlando Airport, and one hour east of Tampa Airport, making it an alternative option for passengers visiting each of the two major Florida cities.  From Lakeland, Avelo will launch service to Rochester, NY, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Concord, NC (which is near Charlotte, NC) and Manchester, NH (which is near Boston, MA).  The low-cost carrier operates its flights from regional airports that are adjacent to major cities, which explains the Manchester and Concord airport options.   Each new route will operate twice weekly, and Avelo states they are the only airline to operate direct service between each of the markets.
