After being born and raised on Maui, I moved to the mainland US to attend college in California and experienced a bit of culture shock.

Travel is increasing as more people have taken a trip this past year. Additionally, several airlines have announced more flights that are being added to their itineraries, including many to overseas destinations. United Airlines is one of the major airlines adding to its lineup by ordering more aircraft.

This fall, cruise lines are preparing for a big boost to their offerings and route maps. If you’re planning travel for 2024, these cruise lines have new options just for you. Now that the pandemic is in the rearview mirror, cruise companies are launching new ships, new itineraries and new amenities.

A popular beach and location to see sea lions up close along California’s coast will now be closed to the public. San Diego’s famed Point La Jolla and Boomer Beach have been a viewing spot of the natural wildlife along the ocean for decades, and will now be closed to the public as a new measure passed unanimously by the San Diego City Council during a public hearing on Sept. 18, according to meeting minutes reviewed by Travel + Leisure. Point La Jolla is located approximately 15 miles north of downtown San Diego, along the Pacific Ocean. La Jolla's tourism website describes Boomer Beech as a «hidden beach» with «great waves» popular with body surfers.
