Eurostar's London-Amsterdam service will still run this summer despite Dutch station renovation

From scriptwriting to headshot generation, artificial intelligence has established itself as a prominent player across all walks of professional life, and the travel industry is no exception. While novice travelers have traditionally opted for travel agents or consulting local tourism boards, recent technological advances have ushered in a new strategy for planning the perfect vacation—yet in spite of their ease of use, certain figures within the realm of travel worry that the information given through platforms like ChatGPT is far from perfect.

A summer getaway to Italy just got easier to plan. 

Oscar-winning filmmaker and artist Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave, Shame, Hunger) shows us in his engrossing new documentary, Occupied City, how the not so distant past events of the second world war still haunt present day Amsterdam. His film, made with his historian wife, Bianca Stigter, evokes the ghosts of the past, felt everywhere in the city, inside buildings where often harrowing things happened but the film also leaves us with the positive reminder that “the Nazis didn’t win.”

Hotel operator Selina has faced ongoing financial difficulties, and the latest one emerged this week when a landlord repossessed the brand’s only hotel in London.

A new low-cost airline is giving passengers the opportunity to travel to two different countries for the price of one.  This week, Play Airlines announced a new sale that provides discounted fares combined with the opportunity to add a multi-day stopover in their main hub of Reykjavík, Iceland. For example, a traveler can book a ticket from Boston Logan Airport to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, and add a several-day visit to Iceland in the middle, for no extra charge.  The carrier operates services in the United States departing from New York (SWF — Stewart International Airport), Boston (BOS), Baltimore (BWI), and Washington (IAD). The flights often connect in Iceland to various destinations in Europe including London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. The fare sale offers $99 flights to Iceland from the U.S., or $129 on fares that continue to one of the Europe destinations. The promotion is valid from now through Feb. 6 at 11:59 p.m. EST for travel through December, with the exception of June, July, and August. The maximum stopover in Iceland is ten days. The fares include all taxes and are booked in the «PLAY Basic» category, which only includes a personal item. Travelers can bring carry-on or checked bags for additional fees.
