American Airlines Chief Customer Officer Alison Taylor is retiring. Her departure will leave the Fort Worth, Texas- based carrier with no C-suite executive whose sole purview is customers.

The rise in blended travel is reshaping American Airlines. Travelers who combine work and leisure into one trip are not only the fastest growing segment of the carrier’s business, but they are also driving changes to everything from how it sells flights to its loyalty program and big investment in premium seats.

American Airlines is performing well, and it expects the strength to continue. The Fort Worth-based Oneworld carrier said on Thursday it generated $14.4 billion in revenue for the second quarter. Net profit reached nearly $1.4 billion.

Summer travel is off to a roaring start, with little sign of a slowdown on the horizon. And airline executives say they are doing all they can to keep up, including contending with bad weather and congestion in the skies and on the ground.
