An estimated one to four million people will travel to see next year’s total solar eclipse, according to a report made by Great American Eclipse.
The historic solar eclipse will sweep across the U.S. from Texas to Maine, with 31 million Americans within its path of totality. The geographic model, provided by the organization, expects Texas to receive the most solar viewers, with other destinations throughout Indiana, Ohio, New York, Arkansas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Oklahoma, Maine and New Hampshire to receive visitation for the event.
According to the predictions, Texas will receive over a million visitors to watch the solar eclipse. Indiana and Ohio are expected to receive just over 500,000 each.
"It will likely be the most-viewed astronomical event in American history,” said Michael Zeiler, co-founder of Great American Eclipse and expert eclipse cartographer. “When you combine the populations of Mexico, USA and Canada that live inside the path of totality, and add all of those who will travel on eclipse day, a total of 50 million North Americans witnessing totality is possible.”
The 2024 solar eclipse will be the last total solar eclipse North America sees until 2039, prompting plenty of travel companies, including Princess Cruises and Holland America Line, to begin offering new ways to enjoy viewing the celestial event.

Nova Scotia is a landscape of a thousand views—from the dramatic tides in the Bay of Fundy to the rolling vineyards of Annapolis Valley—you’ll see it all. Here, over one million shore birds migrate through every summer along with some of the rarest whales in the world. While nature tends to steal the show don’t let that distract you from Nova Scotia’s vibrant locally infused culinary scene, fueled in large part by this island’s naturally abundant provender. Farmer’s markets feature bins piled high with brussel sprouts, broccoli, apples and squash while distilleries and breweries deliver on the local libations. And, while fresh and local are just part of the experience, it is also worth noting that most every restaurant, winery and coffee shop is a boutique family-owned and operated affair.
It’s believed that the Norwegians invented modern skiing as we know it, and the first destination ski resort was Switzerland’s St. Moritz around 1864—more than half a century before the oldest operating mountain in the U.S. opened. It was the ski loving but mountain-challenged British that popularized the very notion of the ski vacation, traveling to the Alps for food, fun and skiing.

When you think of a cruise vacation, you probably imagine sailing the tropical waters of the Caribbean, or navigating around the Greek islands. Your brain likely isn’t conjuring images of the sandswept deserts of Saudi Arabia. But Saudi Arabia strives to make itself more attractive for international tourism — making the process of getting a visa very easy, and establishing tourism-specific destinations like NEOM and AlUla. And thanks to its efforts, it’s become a desirable new destination for Red Sea cruises. Since the first cruise to Saudi Arabia in January 2022, sailings to the kingdom have multiplied. Right now Jeddah is the country’s main cruise port, though as tourism development continues throughout the region, more ports are likely to open. Whether you’re a cruise enthusiast or a newbie, now’s the time to consider a Saudi Arabia cruise.
