We might only be just into spring, but now is the time to start planning and booking your 2024 summer vacations if you don't want to risk hotels and flights selling out. But with so many incredible destinations out there, it's not always easy to decide where you should fly.
Thankfully, Google Flights has just released its list of the top destinations for summer 2024. The list is compiled based on the most searched-for destinations by travelers within the U.S. on Google Flights for travel anytime between June 1 and Aug. 31.
This year's list is chock-full of some of the busiest and trendiest destinations among U.S. travelers. While it features a bunch of the usual suspects (we're looking at you, Paris), there are also a few surprises in it.

London led the pack, with an overwhelming majority of U.S. travelers looking to take a trip across the pond to the United Kingdom. Hot on the heels in second place was Paris, which should come as no surprise ahead of the Olympics this year.

In third place, however, comes our first surprise in the form of Tokyo, which has risen from the eighth position. Both Madrid and San Juan have also broken into the top 20 for the first time in positions 18 and 20, respectively.
Plenty of popular U.S. destinations like New York, Miami, Seattle and Boston made the list. This year has seen both Chicago and San Francisco drop out of the top rankings.
In terms of the top family travel destinations, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, all ranked highly. Turks and Caicos, in particular, was shown to also be the most popular destination for couples and the fourth most popular spot for solo travelers.
