Low-cost Avelo Airlines is adding a trio of new routes from Connecticut this summer to the Midwest and the South.
Starting in June, the airline will launch flights from its hub in the Tweed-New Haven Airport to Houston, Texas; St. Louis, Missouri; and Traverse City, Michigan, Avelo shared with Travel + Leisure. All three of the new flights will operate on a Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.
Flights to St. Louis will launch on June 13 and operate twice each week on Thursdays and Sundays, while flights to Houston will launch on June 14 and also operate twice each week on Mondays and Fridays. Finally, flights to Traverse City will launch on June 15 and operate on Saturdays.
To celebrate the new routes, Avelo is offering introductory one-way fares starting at just $62. To take advantage, travelers must book by March 27 and travel by July 31.
“Whether visiting friends and family, enjoying a leisurely vacation or attending an important business meeting, Avelo offers time and money-saving convenience for Connecticut travelers,” Avelo Airlines’ Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said in a statement shared with T+L. “With 24 nonstop destinations, flying from Tweed is easier and more affordable than ever. Additionally, when you consider our industry-leading reliability, it is clear why almost 2 million people have flown Avelo at Tweed since 2021.”
Avelo Airlines first launched in 2021 and has continued to expand since, including starting flights to Puerto Rico last year, marking the carrier’s first-ever jump into the Caribbean.
From its hub in Connecticut, Avelo will now fly to 24 different destinations across 11 states and Puerto Rico. With the new routes, Avelo will become the only airline to offer nonstop flights between Connecticut and Missouri, according to the carrier.
The airline operates a low-cost model and charges for things like seat assignments, checked bags, and carry-on bags.
