The Grenada Tourism Authority has unveiled 31 new sculptures to be added to the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, creating a symbol of art, conservation and cultural pride in the country.

The English country house is a familiar character, but often the fictional houses seen on screen are the same repurposed National Trust properties. For Saltburn, about a young man who is drawn into the tempting world of the aristocratic Catton family, writer/director Emerald Fennell wanted to find a unique house that could also serve as a single location. She and production designer Suzie Davies discovered a 127-room privately owned manor in Northamptonshire that hit every mark. In the 19th century, Boston was nicknamed ‘The Hub of the Solar System’ such was its importance at the heart of the young American nation. Ask any of the passionate locals — especially Red Sox baseball fans — and they’ll say it’s still an accurate description. The star at the centre of this particular galaxy is a compact 400-year-old downtown, home to a collection of historic sites that form the core of the Freedom Trail, and the harbour where the Boston Tea Party protest took place 250 years ago. You’ll find most of the best hotels in the Back Bay or South End areas, both flanking the downtown and close to the culinary and cultural action.

There’s something very satisfying about a hotel—or any enterprise, really—that settles on one thing and decides to do that thing very well. The First Roma, a new collection (or triptych, in the words of a marketer) from the Hong Kong–based quiet-luxury Pavilions Hotels & Resorts brand (known for low-key five-star properties like the Pavilions Bali), seems to have taken that idea to heart.

Ask a New York City regular where to stay in Manhattan and they’ll tell you NoMad is the coolest downtown neighborhood. The clue is in the name: NoMad, or Madison Square North, bounces right off the north end of Madison Square Park. A recent revival has brought a surge in luxury hotels, inventive bistros, and voguish bars to this historic 30-block nook. NoMad hotels are close (but not too close) to Times Square while Chelsea and the Flatiron District are on the doorstep. When you think of an adrenaline-pumping, outdoor lover’s dream destination, you probably don’t think of Redding, California — but you should. In Northern California, just south of the Oregon border, Redding is an up-and-coming outdoors destination that’s quickly becoming known for having endless places to hike, bike, kayak, and fish — and that’s just when the weather’s warm.

Germany is celebrating the 250th birthday of one of its best-loved painters, the Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840). His work features mountains, ruins and stormy seas, often with human figures, such as Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog. There are exhibitions in Hamburg (until 1 April), Berlin (19 April to 4 August) and Dresden (24 August to 5 January 2025), where Friedrich lived for 40 years; he is buried in the city’s Trinitatis Cemetery. His birthplace, Greifswald, has a festival (31 August-1 September) and three exhibitions at the Pomeranian State Museum (from 28 April). Visitors can also follow in the artist’s footsteps – literally, as he preferred to travel on foot, sketchbook in hand – to locations in his paintings, such as Rügen Island or the Saxon Switzerland national park.germany.travel
