There are two types of train trip: The long, slow, and often luxurious train journey that takes you through beautiful scenery that you book specifically to spend time on the rails; and the speedy, no-nonsense, cheap train ride you take to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. In the first category, you’ll find grand trips like Australia’s The Ghan, South Africa’s Blue Train, and Britain’s Caledonian Sleeper. In the second, there are trips from London to Brussels in just two hours, from Rome to Venice in four hours, and from Miami to Orlando in three hours. And if you’re a train traveler who belongs to the second category and likes getting places fast without flying, there are plenty of trains in this world that do just that at speeds previously unimaginable on land, including the fastest train in the world and its closest competitors.
Back in March, Alaska Airlines launched a new subscription service requiring a $5-per-month payment to get early access to Alaska fare sales, a personalized fare page and free Wi-Fi credits — the Seattle-based airline calls the service "Alaska Access." I was excited to test it out since, at the time, Alaska said it would give subscribers advance notice to some of its biggest deals of the year.
When I first leveled up from casual running to my first marathon, I went to my local Fleet Feet in Hoboken, New Jersey, to buy a pair of real running sneakers. After an extensive chat and consultation, I was pointed towards a pair of Brooks Running shoes.

Whether due to someone removing their shoes right after boarding or eating a stinky sandwich during mealtime, we've all occasionally wished we had the power to choose our seatmate when we fly. Unfortunately, no amount of pixie dust can make the lines any shorter, but that doesn't mean there aren't ways to make your wait times magically shrink.
In Sha He, a densely populated slice of Chengdu, the narrow streets are lined with teahouses, restaurants, and diners seated around rickety bamboo tables playing mahjong, gossiping, and drinking baijiu. I’m at Dong Zi Kou, a chipped-countertops-but-clean-plates sort of eatery whose name literally translates to “hole in the wall.” There’s a mad dash for the old-school specialties, like spicy mung bean noodles and stir-fried intestines, and the place is packed to the gills at 1:00 pm on a Friday.
Every two years, droves of Disney fans descend on Anaheim, California, but not solely to visit Disneyland. They come together to celebrate their shared love of all things Disney with exclusive experiences, behind-the-scenes panels, shopping, cosplaying and so much more at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that takes place once every two years.
For some travelers, rest and relaxation is a must on vacation.
