The Michelin Guide recently announced 19 new restaurant additions in South Florida, spread across Miami, Orlando and Tampa— now totaling 137 restaurants in the region.
In Miami, eight new restaurants were recognized. These include local favorites Maty’s, the Peruvian restaurant in midtown helmed by James Beard-nominated chef Valerie Chang— a tribute to her grandmother who it’s named after; Tam Tam, the ultra-hip Vietnamese space (with a secret karaoke in the bathroom!) run by Saigon-born chef Tam Pham and husband, Harrison Ramhofer; and Shingo, the 14-seat omakase counter by Shingo Akikuni in Coral Gables.
Orlando has five new additions which include Camille, where guests can enjoy a 10-course Vietnamese-French tasting menu by chef Tung Phan; casual temaki spot Sushi Saint by chef Mike Collantes (of Michelin-starred Soseki), and the family-style Sichuan restaurant Chuan Fu.
Tampa has six new additions which include Swedish chef Ebbe Vollmer's namesake Ebbe, which offers a singular tasting menu heralding to the chef’s Scandinavian roots; and Predalina by siblings Blake Casper and Allison Casper Adams, who founded the restaurant as an homage to their great-grandmother's heritage (Brazil-born, Portugal-raised, before settling in Rhode Island).
These restaurants have the possibility of receiving Stars or Bib Gourmands in the upcoming Michelin Guide Ceremony, which will be held in Tampa, on April 18, 2024.
