Spirit Airlines has been in talks with bondholders over the terms of a potential bankruptcy filing, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Nearly nine months into the job, JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty has dealt with an activist investor, Pratt and Whitney engine issues and the fallout of JetBlue’s failed merger with Spirit Airlines. 

JetBlue will open its first airport lounge next year as part of a major premium drive. New York and Boston will be the first locations for the high-end facilities. The site at JFK Terminal 5 is due to open in late 2025, with Boston Logan’s Terminal C following soon after. 

JetBlue raised its third-quarter guidance Thursday primarily due to an uptick in bookings, particularly in Latin America. 

This week marked the start of two new transatlantic routes from JetBlue: Nonstop flights to Dublin from New York’s JFK and Boston.

A new Terminal 6 is in the pipeline for John F. Kennedy International Airport. The $4.2 billion facility is due to open in 2026 and is expected to transform the traveling experience for millions of passengers each year.

JetBlue describes itself as New York’s hometown airline. Soon it will have a brand new home in the Big Apple.
