United Polaris Revamps Business Class: Aims For "Best Sleep In The Sky"

In an era where international travel is rapidly bouncing back, United Airlines is making bold strides. Their aim isn't merely to transport passengers from one corner of the globe to another; it's to ensure that those hours in transit are restful. With the most ambitious overhaul of the United Polaris business class since 2016, the airline is laser-focused on a singular mission: granting passengers the best sleep in the sky.

Surveys highlight the timeliness of United's efforts. An impressive 83% of international travelers have stressed the importance of catching up on sleep during their flights. And it's not just a passing thought. A significant 61% are so committed to this quest for in-flight rest that they base their bookings on it. In a fascinating twist, for many travelers, the allure of deep slumber at cruising altitude surpasses the draw of Wi-Fi, binge-worthy TV series, or even the prospect of a favorite beverage.

So, how does United plan to turn this dream into a reality?

At the forefront of their strategy is a partnership with the renowned wellness brand Therabody. Polaris passengers will now be treated to a unique Therabody amenity kit. This isn't your usual set of in-flight essentials. Instead, it's a curated collection of skincare products tailored to make travelers feel invigorated when they touch down. From eye serums packed with rejuvenating ingredients to hand creams that combat the ubiquitous dryness of air travel, the attention to detail is palpable.

Beyond skincare, United is also stepping up the in-flight bedding game. Collaborating with luxury retailer Saks Fifth Avenue, the airline has launched a line of eco-friendly bedding for its Polaris flyers. Among these offerings, passengers will find items crafted from recycled plastic. The limited-edition day blanket is a standout piece, bearing the distinct design signature of rising fashion star Claude Kameni.

“International travel is booming and our customers have direct access to more places around the globe than any other airline – with these new amenities, now they’ll also have the best experience flying there,” said Andrew Nocella, United Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. “We know amenities can really elevate the overall flying experience and are confident United Polaris flyers will love the new wellness-focused offerings created with our best-in-class partners Therabody and Saks Fifth Avenue and increased focus on sourcing recycled materials.”
