Travel companies these days are full of stories touting the ways they use AI. Travel tech companies heavily market new tools, sometimes branding themselves as AI companies. 

There have been numerous travel tech acquisitions just in the past few months. Many of those deals grew client numbers for the buyers, expanding the footprints for those companies overnight. 

The recent Earth Day (22nd April) and World Environment Day (5 June) brought with them inevitable stories about shameful greenwashing – from oil giants to global banks to car companies.

Before the pandemic hit, hotels had spent roughly 2.5 percent of revenue on new technologies. The size of that investment dropped during the pandemic.

Adam Harris, the CEO of hotel management software company Cloudbeds, has a great no-nonsense grasp of the macro – and micro – environment in the startup fundraising world, a fact that I learned in a few back and forth LinkedIn messages and subsequent calls between us gossiping about the travel tech startups that were raising money or got sold for pennies on the dollar in the last few months.

Cloudbeds, a San Diego-based software company that helps independent hotels set their set their rooms and market their inventory online, has integrated with Vrbo — the API integration will allow property owners and operators to manage all aspects of their Vrbo listings through the Cloudbeds platform.
