It’s about to get easier to visit the luxury Swiss mountain town of St. Moritz thanks to the resort joining the Ikon Pass for the 2024/2025 ski season.

On a Monday morning in early March, Reed Hastings, the billionaire co-founder and former chief executive of Netflix, clicked into the bindings on his snowboard and started off down one of the slopes at Powder Mountain, a ski area in Utah’s northeast corner. He quickly veered off the groomed trail into some well-spaced trees, and as he made turns over bumpy snow, you could hear his edges scratch against patches of ice.

For skiers and snowboarders who dream of hitting a smorgasbord of mountains come wintertime, the Ikon Pass is like a passport to a kingdom of potential adventures. If you’ve been waiting for these golden tickets to become available again, there’s good news: Starting March 14, you can buy the 2024/2025 Ikon Pass. They will be valid for the remainder of the current winter season which, thanks to recent storms, will probably see lifts spinning beyond Memorial Day at some resorts (we’re looking at you, Mammoth).

There's no denying it — when it comes to skiing in the U.S., there's nothing like skiing out west. But, for those closer to the East Coast, it's oftentimes significantly easier to jump in the car and drive to your favorite ski resort, which might be located in a charming New England ski town with some top-tier lodging and dining options.

Winter is knocking on the door, and for ski enthusiasts, that can only mean one thing—it’s time to embrace the powdery slopes. But as the excitement builds for ski season, so does the concern about the cost. Skiing isn’t cheap.
