Marriott Vacations Worldwide on Thursday launched its first collection of timeshares in cities, a sign of growing demand for timeshares beyond traditional resort locations.

Hilton Grand Vacations reported financial results on Thursday, following recent reports from timeshare operator rivals Marriott Vacations Worldwide and Travel and Leisure Company.

Travel and Leisure Co. said Tuesday it had agreed to buy Accor Vacation Club, the timeshare business of Accor, for $48.4 million.

Hawaii is looking for ways to help those displaced by the Lahaina wildfire in August, and Maui mayor Richard Bissen has proposed tax incentives to turn short-term rentals into long-term housing.

Hilton Grand Vacations has offered to acquire Bluegreen Vacations, two publicly held vacation ownership companies said on Monday.

Many consumer businesses bemoan rising inflation as a buzzkill, but not Hilton Grand Vacations. The timeshare company believes that consumers will find its stably priced product relatively more attractive compared to increasing rates for hotels and vacation homes.

Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp‘s new CEO John Geller said on Thursday that the company’s fourth-quarter earnings underscored continued strength in leisure demand for its timeshare properties, package tours, and other offerings for travelers, despite talk of economic uncertainty.
