Brand-hotel partnerships have certainly become popular in recent years. But just like the scare actor that jumps out at you in a haunted attraction, we never saw this collaboration coming: A hotel in Denver has teamed up with one of the Mile High City’s haunted houses to create a hyper-themed Halloween room.
Set designers from the 13th Floor Haunted House Denver madeover a room at The Curtis Hotel, a maximalist pop-culture themed hotel in Denver. The haunted house room is on the hotel’s 13th floor, which was already the dedicated “scary movie” floor with references to “The Shining” and other classics. But now, this nightmare-fueled space is decked out like the set of a haunted house with some well-played idioms like a literal skeleton in the closet and a monster hiding under the bed.
For Halloween lovers, the hotel is offering The Hyper Haunt Package that includes an overnight stay in the room, VIP passes to the off-site 13th Floor haunted house, plus other goodies, like a “Poison Apple” cocktail at The Corner Office bar, coffin-shaped flasks, and more. The package is available until Oct. 31, 2023.
So, what does a hotel room look like when haunted house set designers have free reign?
Flickering lights set the mood, there’s spider decor hanging above the bed, caution tape wrapping the room, a gory mask hanging in the bathroom with a “Beware” sign on the mirror, a fake severed finger on the TV remote, crime newspaper clippings in frames on the wall, and all kinds of other things that, in any other circumstance, would prompt complaint calls to the front desk.
Megan Pierce, director of sales and marketing at The Curtis Hotel, says the hotel aims to provide guests with unforgettable experiences. Throughout the year, the hyper-themed hotel has a maximalist lobby that pretty much doubles as a selfie studio with a vintage airstream, a chairlift with a neon-lit sun in the background, and a mock pool area with pink flamingos. Located in Denver’s theater district, each of the hotel’s floors come with its own theme, ranging from comic books to race car driving to a disco vibe.
“We pride ourselves on being unexpected and eccentric, and this time of year, a little spooky too,” Pierce says. “We are thrilled to partner with Denver’s world-famous haunted attraction to transform one of our 13th floor rooms into a horror-lovers paradise.”
The themed hotel room also makes sense for the 13th Floor Entertainment team, as it's been building out its Denver haunt with bars located in the 2023 haunted house, including a “Shriekeasy Bar” and a tarot tiki experience. For those who want to make a night out of haunted house hopping, there’s also axe-throwing lanes and private, heated R.I.P. cabanas with games and drinks and

Few cities are as naturally spectacular as Rio. Flanked by the Atlantic and Guanabara Bay, backed by jungle-furred peaks and strung together with miles of creamy sand, this is a place of singular beauty. The beachside neighbourhoods are the obvious areas to stay: legendary Copacabana, quieter Leme and trendier Ipanema, the gateway to Rio’s western beaches. Don’t write off inland, though — over the past decade, a new, boutique-style hotel scene has emerged. High above the historic centre, Santa Teresa is Rio’s boho bastion. Directly below is nightlife-central Lapa.
With the arrival of autumn, the air becomes crisp and the shadows grow longer, setting the stage for a season of spookiness. Halloween enthusiasts and thrillseekers alike are drawn to the eerie and the unknown. In years past, I’ve looked at the most haunted states in America, truly haunted houses and the most haunted places in the U.S.
Although Taipei is one of Asia’s most compact capitals, it’s still surprisingly easy to get lost when exploring this beautiful city, famous for the forested hills that surround it, and the sky-scraping buildings that tower over its temples, night markets and museums.
This fall, airlines continue to invest in the passenger experience. The effort to draw business, in the wake of major loyalty program news from carriers like Delta Air Lines (which sent many of its top-elite SkyMiles members fleeing for alternative airlines), has never been stronger. Wooing customers is also an important consideration as the holidays near, and travelers begin to make busy travel plans. Here are some of the latest updates and changes in the airline industry you should know about to be more informed for your next trip.
Tel Aviv-headquartered Brown Hotels saw evacuees and stranded travelers pour into many of its rooms at its 24 hotels in Israel in the aftermath of brutal attacks on Saturday.
Mumbai, also referred to as Bombay, is India’s largest city. This densely populated, buzzing metropolis located on India’s west coast is rich in both history and culture. Can’t-miss experiences include the lineup of tasty street food markets, bustling bazaars, and iconic landmarks — like the Gateway of India and the Elephanta Caves.
New urban hotels regularly promise a fresh take on big-city lodging. Thing is, all too often, hotels fail to be much more than cookie-cutter cutouts of high-end properties found in other cities. The Rally Hotel at McGregor Square, the baseball-themed commercial hub adjacent to Denver’s Coors Field, breaks this mold with an experience as intoxicating as the roar of the crown after a dinger bounces off the left field concourse across the street. The hotel, the newest in Denver’s Lower Downtown (LoDo) neighborhood, features 182 rooms rising above the McGregor Square complex, also home to a food hall, beer garden, and shopping. Immediately upon walking through the doors, it felt to me like a spirited spot to spend a night in a bustling entertainment district just two blocks from Denver’s Union Station, which provides direct access to Denver International Airport and other attractions via local rail lines and bus routes.

Ultra-luxury hotels — think of brands like Aman, One&Only, Rosewood, and The Peninsula — don’t always perform to their full potential.
My family of four has been to the Legoland New York theme park for day trips, but we'd never stayed on the property before since it's only a 90-minute drive from my home in New York City.
When it comes to luxury hotels, Tokyo has always been in a class by itself. So when Wayne Kask checked into the new Bellustar Tokyo, he expected a one-of-a-kind experience.
