Here at TPG, we believe travel has the power to change the world. Since 2017, we have raised and donated more than $5,000,000 and 70,000,000 points and miles to charitable organizations, including one that is changing the world one family at a time by granting life-changing wishes to deserving kids.
Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has made more than 500,000 wishes come true for kids diagnosed with critical illnesses and their families. About 80% of those wishes involve travel. In fact, Make-A-Wish needs more than 2.8 billion miles — the equivalent of 50,000 round-trip tickets — to cover the travel wishes made each year.
TPG has partnered with Make-A-Wish since 2017 to raise awareness, funds and the airline miles necessary to give kids facing critical illnesses a chance to just be kids.
In honor of World Wish Day, held annually April 29, here's a look back at the work Make-A-Wish does for families, TPG's partnership with Make-A-Wish and how you can support this important cause.
Throughout the years, TPG has supported Make-A-Wish through donation drives, campaigns and live events. In 2018, TPG partnered with Make-A-Wish through a Prizeo campaign where donors could win travel-related prizes by donating to the organization.
Make-A-Wish has also been a fixture at the TPG Awards. In 2022, TPG donated $1 to Make-A-Wish for every vote cast, leading to a $25,000 donation and the opportunity for TPG's audience to support the organization. At the 2023 TPG Awards, we recognized Make-A-Wish onstage, highlighting the organization's transformative impact on children and their families and presenting a $20,000 donation.
Also in 2023, TPG partnered with Make-A-Wish and American Airlines to bring 26 Make-A-Wish families to Walt Disney World on the "Best Flight Ever." The Best Flight Ever started at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) with a party at the gate and a red carpet entrance to the jet bridge, with TPG's founder, Brian Kelly, serving as the flight's "chief fun attendant." Once on board, there were snacks, burgers, sing-a-longs and even a water cannon salute when the plane landed at Orlando International Airport (MCO).
For these families, the Best Flight Ever kicked off a week of magic at Give Kids the World Village — a storybook-themed resort near Orlando for children with critical illnesses and their families — and Orlando's theme parks completely free of charge.
Make-A-Wish can only provide travel wishes such as this because of your generous donations. You can get involved in several ways:
Whether it's sending a child to Hawaii, Paris or Walt Disney World, your donations can give kids the hope and encouragement they need to overcome life's toughest challenges. And it isn't only children dealing

Where the land of Fire and Ice meets the land of Warhol and Whiskey, the Southeastern city of Pennsylvania is even more accessible to UK & Ireland travellers. From today until 27 October 2024, the new seasonal Icelandair service will offer 4x weekly flights from Iceland to Pittsburgh.
The U.S. dollar is going strong relative to many foreign currencies right now, which translates to international travel bargains for savvy shoppers. One of the easiest way for American travelers to grab a “deal” on an overseas trip is to choose a destination where the comparatively strong dollar delivers a built-in automatic discount for on-the-ground costs like hotels, dining and attractions.
Southwest Airlines recently announced the launch of its new Orlando – Nassau route. Daily nonstop flights will connect Central Florida’s metropolitan hub with The Bahamas’ capital city at the height of the summer months. The Orlando – Nassau flights will operate from 4 June to 4 August, with departures from Orlando and arrivals in Nassau. “The expansion of Southwest Airlines’ Central Florida route map to include a new daily service to Nassau is another testimony to the government’s efforts and commitment to grow air stopover arrivals throughout our 16-islands destination aggressively,” says the Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Bahamas Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation.
J.D. Power just released its 2024 North America Airline Satisfaction Study, and while some airlines shone, others are clearly not prioritizing customer service. As domestic air travel continues to rise (with passenger volume increasing by 9.4% compared to the previous year) airlines find it challenging to maintain customer satisfaction amid crowded gates, overflowing overhead bins and rising ticket prices. However, the J.D. Power 2024 North America Airline Satisfaction Study, released on May 8, shows that some airlines are responding to these challenges by focusing heavily on staff training and doing what they can to improve the overall flight experience through friendly and attentive service. These efforts are paying off, allowing some airlines to deliver exceptional customer experiences despite the growing number of travelers.
It’s about to get easier — and more comfortable — to get to Puerto Rico and elsewhere in the Caribbean with a significant JetBlue expansion in the region.
Last month in Chicago, a United Airlines flight to London was ready to depart, but it was still waiting for 13 passengers connecting from Costa Rica. The airline projected they’d miss the flight by seven minutes. Under normal circumstances, they’d all be scrambling to rebook.
It’s that time of year again when both students and airlines get their report cards. J.D. Power just released its 2024 edition of the North America Airline Satisfaction Study.
JetBlue is doubling down on Puerto Rico, slashing service from New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA), scaling back its winter Europe offerings, and deploying more of its Mint-equipped jets throughout North America.
What’s the best airline in 2024? It depends on the cabin you fly. Delta Airlines comes in at top for both first-class travelers and those who fly in premium economy, according to J.D. Power’s newest 2024 customer satisfaction survey that ranks North American airlines.
