The total solar eclipse that will sweep across North America on Monday, April 8, is set to draw crowds from across the continent and beyond. The prize—darkness in the day and a view of the sun’s corona with your naked eyes—is everything, but it’s only open to those inside the 115-mile wide path of totality. On Monday, April 8, a solar eclipse will be visible across North America, the like of which have not been seen since 1806. However, to experience up to 4 minutes 26 seconds of spine-tingling totality—darkness in the day and the chance to look at the sun’s spectacular corona with the naked eye—you must be in the path of totality (the yellow track on the map below).
