Luxury vacation homes and villas subscription service Inspirato and Capital One are working on a commercial deal and strategic partnership, and once that has been negotiated, then Capital One Ventures would provide Inspirato with a $25 million convertible note, the companies announced Tuesday.

Not much changed for luxury brand Inspirato in the fourth quarter since its last earnings announcement. And its strategy remains the same: to lower nightly rates, and to help find the proper supply and demand balance to improve operating efficiencies. And of course, to break even.

Losses continue to mount for luxury hospitality brand Inspirato. The company is burning cash at $15 million per quarter and its revenue is down.

Luxury hospitality brand Inspirato has appointed a new CEO: Eric Grosse, a current board member, will take over from Brent Handler, Inspirato’s founder and its CEO for the past 13 years, the company announced Monday.

Thanks to excess supply and lower occupancy, luxury travel brand Inspirato will use online travel agencies including Airbnb and Vrbo to list its luxury rentals — but without the high-end frills.

Inspirato, which offers a luxury vacation home and hotel subscription service for affluent guests, layed off around 50 staffers, or some 6% of its workforce yesterday, Skift has learned.

Occupancy is at its lowest, losses are mounting, and the company announced another round of layoffs last month. Despite this, the luxury hospitality brand Inspirato has a few wins, including a new partnership with Capital One, and a rewards program launch.

Capital One, which operates a travel portal and already invested $96 million in online travel agency Hopper last year, said it intends to invest $25 million through a convertible note in luxury hospitality company Inspirato.
