Despite assurances that the measure was temporary, the company never returned to the skies and ultimately collapsed.

Qatar Airways announced that it intends to acquire a 25% stake in Virgin Australia as part of a deal that could drive more competition in the Australian market.

Turkish Airlines is doubling down its presence Down Under. In March, the carrier launched its first Australian service to Melbourne. Now, it’s confirmed Sydney will soon join the route map.

Jetstar Asia, the low-cost carrier based in Singapore, has appointed John Simeone as its new CEO. Barathan Pasupathi, the outgoing CEO who led the airline for 12 years, will step down from his role on March 1 to “pursue other opportunities.”
